Dock Museum


There has been a museum in Barrow since 1907 when an alligator, presumably stuffed, was presented to the museum.  Over the years a great collection has built up of wonderfully diverse objects.

Furness Abbey


Founded in 1123 by Stephen, Count of Boulogne, it was built originally for the Order of Savigny. Located in the ‘Vale of Nightshade’, south of Dalton-in-Furness, the abbey is built entirely out of local sandstone. It passed in 1147 to the Cistercians, who gradually enlarged and rebuilt the original ornate church.

Barrow Park


Set in an area of 45 acres, accessed from Abbey Road, Park Drive, Park Avenue and Greengate Street, the award winning Park provides the perfect place to stroll on sunny afternoons.

Lake District


Visit the Lake District National Park for sights like no other. Take it all in on a traditional steamboat chugging through tranquil lakes, or scale the highest mountains England has to offer and enjoy a jaw-dropping view

The Railway


This pub was previously a department store owned by the Barrow Co-operative Society. The original ‘Co-op’ premises on this site were built in 1889, on land bought from the Furness Railway (for £2,500).
